Digital Transformation Training Provided in the Western Balkans Region as Part of the RES-UNI EU Project Implemented under the Coordination of Our University
As the first step of the Research Universities (RES-UNI) project, supported under the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education Call and coordinated by Fırat University, training sessions on the theme of ‘Digital Transformation’ were provided to our partners in the Western Balkans region. The training sessions, moderated by Prof. Dr. İzzet TAŞAR, Head of the International Relations Unit, and Dr. Ceyda AKILLI, Project Office Coordinator, were conducted by Prof. Dr. Yakın Kılıç TÜREL, Prof. Dr. Murat KARABATAK, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa ULAŞ, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Türker TUNCER, and Lecturer Elif Bahar ÖZDOĞRU participated as trainers. The five-day training sessions covered multifaceted content ranging from the conceptual foundations of digital transformation to the establishment and management of digital infrastructure in universities. Participants were taught about software development processes and how software teams should be organised, while also receiving strategic information on how to prepare digital transformation action plans. In addition, current and practical examples were shared on how artificial intelligence-based tools can be integrated into higher education environments.
Thanks to this comprehensive content, participating universities gained the opportunity to plan their own institutional digital transformation journeys in a more strategic, effective, and sustainable manner. The training process also included practical demonstrations of contemporary digital tools such as GitHub, Trello, Trinka, and Mendeley.
